From the customer’s order to a job you know the cost of
Bills of material, planning, work orders and the shop floor, job work, quality and job costing — on the same stock, GST and books your business already runs on, and on a Windows desktop that keeps working when the internet does not.

What you get
Everything between a purchase order and a finished good
A manufacturer licence is everything a shop gets, plus the production modules.
Bills of Material & Routings
Multi-level, versioned BOMs — discrete or batch — with scrap allowance, and routings across your work centres. A job keeps the version it was raised on.
Planning & Scheduling
Explode a run into a shortage list before it starts, and lay jobs out on a work-centre by day board that flags what will finish late.
Requisitions & Gate Entry
The stores says what is short, an approver signs it, and it becomes a purchase order once. The gate register books in every vehicle and challan.
Work Orders & Shop Floor
Issue material, book output in parts with its lot, take in by-products, record scrap. A touch job card for operators, with downtime reasons.
Job Work & ITC-04
Challans out and receipts back, the one-year and three-year return clock with alerts, the job worker’s charge and tax, and the ITC-04 figures.
Quality & NCRs
Inspection plans at incoming, in-process and final stages. A fail raises an NCR, and its disposition moves the stock. Optional gates on receipt and completion.
Job Costing & Factory Dashboard
Planned against actual for every job, with labour and overheads absorbed. One dashboard for margin, what is held, what is overdue and what ships today.
Accounts, GST & MSME
Double-entry books with WIP, GSTR-2B and bank reconciliation, the MSME 45-day payment clock under section 43B(h), a read-only login for your CA, and Tally export.
How a job runs
One job, start to finish
Each step writes to the same stock and the same ledger, so the cost of the job is a fact by the time it closes.
- 1
Plan the run
Pick the item and the quantity. Orbit explodes the bill of material against stock and lists what is short, which becomes a requisition for purchase.
- 2
Raise the job
The work order takes a copy of the BOM and routing as they stand, and a planned cost. Raise it against a customer order when it is made to order.
- 3
Make it
The stores issues material, operators start and finish operations on the job card, and anything sent out for job work goes on a challan.
- 4
Book it in
Receive output in parts, each with its lot. Record scrap and by-products. The job closes with its actual cost beside the planned one.
Built for Indian MSMEs
The clocks that cost money when nobody watches them
Job work — ITC-04
Material at a job worker must come back within one year, capital goods within three, or it is treated as a supply. Every challan line carries that date.
MSME payments — 43B(h)
Pay a micro or small supplier beyond the limit and the expense is not deductible until the year you actually pay. Orbit keeps the 45-day clock on every such bill and shows the exposure before 31 March.
Input credit — GSTR-2B
Credit is what your suppliers reported, not what your bills say. Import the 2B and see which booked purchases are missing from it.

Set up for what you make
Your licence says what the plant makes, and Orbit brings the item fields that product needs — batch and expiry for food and pharma, sizes and colours for garments, serials for electronics.

Manufacturers ask us
How is Orbit for Manufacturers different from your shop billing software?
It is the same Orbit desktop app, switched into manufacturing by your licence key. A manufacturer licence adds bills of material and routings, planning and scheduling, purchase requisitions and a gate register, work orders and a shop-floor job card, job work, quality inspection, job costing, maintenance and a factory dashboard — on top of everything a shop already has, so invoicing, stock, GST and the books are the ones you would use anyway.
Is it for discrete or process manufacturing?
Both, within limits. A bill of material is either discrete — so many of each part per unit — or a batch recipe for a stated batch size, and a job can produce by-products as well as the main item. Output is received by lot with an expiry where the item has a shelf life. It is built for a single plant, and it is a planning tool rather than a full MRP optimiser.
Does it track job work sent to other units?
Yes. Material goes out on a job-work challan and stays in your books as goods with the job worker. On return you record what came back, what was rejected and what was consumed there, with the job worker’s charge and its tax. Each line carries its return-by date — one year for inputs, three for capital goods — with alerts as it approaches, and the register produces the ITC-04 figures.
What does it do about the MSME 45-day payment rule?
Suppliers are recorded with their Udyam registration and category, and Orbit keeps the 45-day and 15-day payment clock on what you owe them. It shows what is at risk of being disallowed under section 43B(h) at the year end and produces the Form MSME-1 figures, so the exposure is visible while there is still time to pay.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Orbit is a Windows desktop app that keeps your manufacturing data in a database on your own PC, so bills of material, work orders, stock, invoicing and reports keep working with no internet at all. A second PC in the office or on the floor connects to the first over your own network.
Does it generate e-invoices and e-way bills?
Orbit raises the GST tax invoice and records the IRN and e-way bill number against it, and it produces the GST registers, GSTR-2B reconciliation and ITC-04 figures. Generating an IRN or an e-way bill from inside the app, and filing returns, are not built — those are done on the government portal or through your CA.
Is there a free trial for manufacturers?
Yes — a 14-day trial of the full manufacturer app on one Windows PC, no credit card needed. Or book a demo and we will walk through it with one of your own products, from its bill of material to a costed job.
How is it priced?
Manufacturing is quoted per business rather than sold off a price list, because it depends on how many users and computers you run. Book a demo and we will send a written quote for your manufacturing.
Can I keep using it for billing and accounts?
Yes. A manufacturer licence is everything a shop licence has — GST invoicing, purchases, stock, customers, the full books with trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet, and Tally export — with the production modules added on top.
