Manufacturing Software for Food Processing & FMCG Units
A recipe for a batch, a lot number and expiry on what comes off the line, the bran or the oil cake taken into stock at what it is worth — and a yield report that says what the run actually gave you against what the recipe promised.

What costs a food processing unit money
And what Orbit does about it.
Yield Is a Guess
A tonne goes in and nobody can say exactly what came out. Orbit records output and scrap on every receipt and reports yield against the bill of material, job by job.
You Know the Lot You Bought, Not the Lot You Made
A complaint arrives with a batch code and there is nothing to trace it to. Each production receipt creates its own lot, numbered from the job, with expiry worked out from the item’s shelf life.
By-products Appear From Nowhere
Bran, husk and oil cake are sold, yet they enter stock through an adjustment at a cost nobody can defend. Orbit takes by-products in on the job, at their realisable value, and the main product carries the rest.
Built for the way you make things

Food Processing Unit software — FAQs
What manufacturers ask us first.
Can I define a recipe for a batch rather than for one unit?
Yes. A bill of material can be a batch type with a stated batch size, so a recipe is written the way a plant thinks of it — so much of each ingredient for a batch of so many kilograms — and Orbit scales it to the quantity of the run.
Does production output get a batch number and expiry?
Yes. Every receipt of finished goods from a job creates a lot. Leave the number blank and Orbit numbers it from the job and the receipt, so a run received over four days makes four lots. The expiry date is taken from the shelf life set on the item, the same way it is when goods are purchased.
How are by-products like bran or oil cake handled?
They are taken into stock on the job itself at their net realisable value, out of what the job has absorbed, and the main product carries the remainder. So the by-product has a cost you can defend and the main product’s cost is not overstated.
Can I see the yield of each run?
Yes. The yield and scrap register compares what each closed job produced with what its bill of material said it should, alongside the scrap booked, and job costing shows planned against actual cost for the same run.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Orbit is a Windows desktop app that keeps your food processing unit data in a database on your own PC, so bills of material, work orders, stock, invoicing and reports keep working with no internet at all. A second PC in the office or on the floor connects to the first over your own network.
Does it generate e-invoices and e-way bills?
Orbit raises the GST tax invoice and records the IRN and e-way bill number against it, and it produces the GST registers, GSTR-2B reconciliation and ITC-04 figures. Generating an IRN or an e-way bill from inside the app, and filing returns, are not built — those are done on the government portal or through your CA.
Is there a free trial for manufacturers?
Yes — a 14-day trial of the full manufacturer app on one Windows PC, no credit card needed. Or book a demo and we will walk through it with one of your own products, from its bill of material to a costed job.
How is it priced?
Manufacturing is quoted per business rather than sold off a price list, because it depends on how many users and computers you run. Book a demo and we will send a written quote for your food processing unit.
Can I keep using it for billing and accounts?
Yes. A manufacturer licence is everything a shop licence has — GST invoicing, purchases, stock, customers, the full books with trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet, and Tally export — with the production modules added on top.
