Manufacturing Software for Furniture & Wood Product Makers

Most of what you make is made for somebody. Orbit raises the job against the customer’s order, shows what production has done on it, and tells you what that sofa or that kitchen actually cost when it leaves.

What costs a furniture manufacturer money

And what Orbit does about it.

Nobody Can Say Where an Order Is

The customer calls and the answer is a walk through the workshop. A job is raised against the sales order, so the order itself shows what has been made and what is ready to dispatch.

Board and Hardware Run Out Mid-Job

The job is cut and then waits a week for hinges. The shortage list sets the bill of material against stock before work starts and turns what is short into a purchase requisition.

Custom Work Is Priced by Feel

Every piece is a little different and so is its cost. Job costing sets material, labour and overheads against the planned cost of each job, so the next quote starts from a real number.

Furniture Manufacturer software — FAQs

What manufacturers ask us first.

Can I make to order rather than to stock?

Yes. A job can be raised from Planning against a confirmed sales order. The work order names the order it is for, the order list shows what production has done on it, and the factory dashboard lists what is ready to dispatch today.

Can I see the profit on each job?

Yes. When a job is raised its planned cost is frozen from the bill of material and routing. Material issued, labour booked on the shop floor and overheads such as power, packing or freight are absorbed into it, and job costing shows planned against actual with the variance and scrap for each job.

Does it handle polishing or upholstery done outside?

Yes, as job work. Pieces go out on a challan and stay in your books; on return you record what came back and the job worker’s charge with its tax, which is added to the cost of the job. Each challan carries its return-by date.

Can I use it for the showroom as well as the workshop?

Yes. A manufacturer licence is everything a shop has plus production, so the same install raises counter bills, quotations and tax invoices. A showroom on a separate licence under the same owner can receive stock from the factory as a transfer.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Orbit is a Windows desktop app that keeps your furniture manufacturer data in a database on your own PC, so bills of material, work orders, stock, invoicing and reports keep working with no internet at all. A second PC in the office or on the floor connects to the first over your own network.

Does it generate e-invoices and e-way bills?

Orbit raises the GST tax invoice and records the IRN and e-way bill number against it, and it produces the GST registers, GSTR-2B reconciliation and ITC-04 figures. Generating an IRN or an e-way bill from inside the app, and filing returns, are not built — those are done on the government portal or through your CA.

Is there a free trial for manufacturers?

Yes — a 14-day trial of the full manufacturer app on one Windows PC, no credit card needed. Or book a demo and we will walk through it with one of your own products, from its bill of material to a costed job.

How is it priced?

Manufacturing is quoted per business rather than sold off a price list, because it depends on how many users and computers you run. Book a demo and we will send a written quote for your furniture manufacturer.

Can I keep using it for billing and accounts?

Yes. A manufacturer licence is everything a shop licence has — GST invoicing, purchases, stock, customers, the full books with trial balance, profit and loss and balance sheet, and Tally export — with the production modules added on top.
